You Have A Gift!

A wise man once said: “Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back.”

They say: “sharing is caring”. In essence, that’s very true, but do we really share our time to caringly teach and remind each other of what’s good? Do we share the most valuable thing we have as Muslims and reap the rewards?

“Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence” [Sahih Bukhari]

How many times have we heard this Hadeeth of our Beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, but…did we ever reflect upon it? Did we ever try to apply this saying to our own selves in our lives? Did we ever try to send even a single text message to our dear friends about an ayah that we learnt about?

Maybe some of us did occasionally, but unfortunately, most of our answers will be

“Umm, not really”

This is the mere reality we live in today. We are busy with our school, college, work and relationships, that we forget the main purpose we are put into this world for in the first place.

The Messenger of Allah said “Allah makes the way to Jannah easy for him who treads the path in search of knowledge” [Sahih Muslim]

Jannah is our real and only destination. This world and its pleasures are just a means for us to be able to reach that destination and to finally meet and greet our Master, our Protector and Creator Allah SWT.

But people, do you think your qualification, exams or your work interviews or any big achievements will just happen so easily? I don’t need to answer that question; we all know we need to strive in the path of Allah, and what better striving than gaining and sharing our knowledge with others!

You may worry about approaching your friends or colleagues and telling them about an ayah or a pearl of knowledge. They will find you weird and say “since when did you become a sheikh”, but we have to remind ourselves how our Prophets, the Sahabas and our mothers went out of their ways to make sure that they have reached every single part of the nation to share and tell them about the Revelation and the Prophet’s teachings. It wasn’t just their job, it’s our job too now!

Now is your turn to get up from your comfy seats and make your first step.

So, what are you waiting for? Ideas? Here are some to get you started:

Teachers around the house

Home is the first school

The home sweet home that we always return to, is in fact our first center of education, where we learn how to speak, how to walk, how to read and so many how to’s. So what better place than home itself!

Have Halaqas with your family, call upon your relatives and engage in Islamic talks, play instructive games with the children or summarize your favorite Mufti’s lecture you have just listened to on YouTube. This will strengthen both your Iman and your relationships, so don’t let these benefits get away from you!

All you need is a click!

Yep, you’ve got it right, only one click and you’ve done the work.

Nowadays, everything is in high tech style, from Facebook to Twitter to useful Islamic websites where you can share your knowledge with others.

You can do a simple task as sharing a picture of a Hadeeth or an Ayah of the Quran or a reflection or quotes of goodness or maybe sharing Islamic lectures’ videos on Facebook. Make a public group where you can discuss all kinds of things related to knowledge with your friends and with new friends as well and maybe Allah will make you a way to show Hidayah to somebody and convert to this beautiful religion.

For our chatty friends

If you have a relative or a friend or maybe yourself, who likes to communicate with people or is a bit of a chatterbox, then know that you have a great impact on people around you.

Do the same easy thing you always do…talk!

Talk with your friends, relatives or colleagues and share your knowledge through your communication skills. Motivate them to strive more in the path of knowledge towards Islam, tell them the beautiful inspiring stories of our Prophets and their morale, share with them every bit of what you have learnt, whether it’s a bit of Arabic (for non-Arabs of course) or an explanation of a beautiful Ayah that has touched your heart deep inside…share it!!

Instead of talking about movies and celebrities or games and TV shows, enhance your relationship with Allah and with the Ummah, by sharing words of wisdom and knowledge.

Use your creativity

And last but not least…be creative!

If you are quiet, calm and peaceful (like me) and enjoy drawing, making up great things from your mind, creating your own world through pictures, words or anything around you…if you are one of them…GO AHEAD!

Make use of your amazing talent, don’t leave them hidden inside you, talk to people, design cartoons for kids or write articles and books sharing whatever you know about our beautiful religion. Go out, find someone and share and gain knowledge with them through your creative skills.

This is the reason why I have chosen to start writing and do my best to help people all around the world and share with you every bit of what I learn every day in my life, for which Allah has granted me to be able to learn, and therefore, I, and we all, have a responsibility toward our Ummah, Muslims and non-Muslims.

It’s not a difficult task my brothers and sisters, you just need to be consistent and patient, make lots and tons of dua to our Master and if you don’t feel confident enough, ask Him to grant you courage and just GO, grab your opportunity and remember…opportunities won’t come by themselves, you have to recognize them and make use of them in the best way you can.

LET’S DO THIS!
